Topgolf Las Vegas: If You’re Going to Go Out, Go Out Swinging

By Ariel Johns

“No matter the occasion or who you share it with, we believe that every great time starts with play, is fueled by food and drinks, moved by music and all made possible through community. Welcome to Topgolf – your premier entertainment destination.”

Topgolf is a clever combination of a golf driving range, the classic arcade game skee ball, and the high-energy social vibe of a bowling alley. Located at the MGM Grand, Topgolf Las Vegas is the perfect addition to any Vegas vacation. This family-friendly venue is ideal for everyone and every occasion, from families and couples to birthdays and bachelor/bachelorette parties. Comfortably seated in your own personal driving bay, you and up to seven guests can rent the games by the hour while indulging on delightful bites and sipping libations. Your personal waitress will show you how to work the screens and walk you through the different games.

The ‘Top’ in Topgolf is an acronym for Target-Oriented Practice. The main object is to drive the balls into one of the large targets on the massive green in front of you. Each ball is equipped with a microchip that will record your stats (the accuracy and distance of each swing). If like me, you have never golfed, there is no need to worry or feel intimidated because no golf experience is required. Each game is labeled with a skill level ranging from beginner to expert.

Prior to my visit to Topgolf, I had heard mention of the phenomenal food. Sourced from fresh, high-quality ingredients, the Topgolf Las Vegas menu is nothing less than top notch. The menu offers guests a “fresh twist on American classics.” Appetizers include nachos, short rib tacos, sugar cane shrimp lettuce wraps, wings (both deep fried and grilled), and my favorite, the jumbo Bavarian pretzel board with meats, cheeses, fruits/nuts, Dijon and Pabst Blue Ribbon cheese sauces. There are four varieties of flatbreads, several burgers, pulled pork and crispy sea bass sliders, and a grilled portabella sandwich and robust salads for vegetarians. Tater tots, sweet potato waffle fries and French fries can be added to any dish as a side.

There are several desserts but the most popular are the injectable donut holes. An order of 24 cinnamon-sugar dusted donut holes are injected with chocolate, raspberry jelly, Bavarian cream, or the chef’s booze-infused flavors. If your party desires a family style feast, their shareable platters serve five to six people and come in eight varieties from street tacos, sushi and sashimi to Texas-style BBQ. Kids have their own menu and on weekends, Topgolf serves my favorite meal, brunch. French toast, chicken & waffles, ahi tuna avocado toast, and the Topgolf breakfast burrito, can be paired with $4 classic mimosas, sangria and of course bloody Marys. Don’t miss out on the seasonal winter menu featuring cheesy macaroni bites, Italian stromboli and the Nutella s’mores skillet.

Order a drink from one of the five unique bars, each mixing up an array of alcoholic cocktails, frozen blended drinks, wines and ice-cold beers on tap. Six bottles of beer can be mixed and matched in a bucket for $41 and a 128-ounce beer tower starts at $48 (parties of three or more).

Topgolf strives to ensure everyone is having fun, so when it’s not your turn up to swing, feel free to sit back, relax and watch the wall of TVs, including a colossal 48-foot screen. There is a cornhole section, shuffleboard table, life-size Connect Four and Jenga, beer pong, table tennis, and two swimming pools (seasonal).

I sit here smiling as I reflect on my trip to Topgolf. I had an amazing time laughing, playing, eating and socializing with my friends. I encourage you to enhance your Las Vegas vacation with a trip to Topgolf. This high energy golf-themed sports bar has something for everyone. “If you’re looking for things to do in Las Vegas, there are plenty of places to go to – but if you’re looking for something to truly experience, look no further than Topgolf.”
